About Ivre de Fleurs
Based in Mountain View, California and owned by Julia Herrick, Ivre de Fleurs aims to bring the beautiful and strange aspects of natural fragrance to everyone.
About the owner
For me, Ivre de Fleurs is the escape from reality through scent. Just sniffing a new essential oil can lift me up, and the blending process focuses my energy on the creation of something positive. Fragrance combines art, science, and mystery in one bottle, and when I'm not blending, I love researching these aspects of fragrance.
I have studied natural perfumery with Mandy Aftel and learned the finer points of natural bath and beauty products at The Nova Studio. After making products for friends and family for years, I launched Ivre de Fleurs in the spring of 2013.
About the fragrances:
I use natural essences extracted through a wide variety of methods, giving us a broad palette of scents to use in my products. While many people have heard of essential oils, I also use absolutes, concretes, floral waxes, enfleurage, infusions, carbon dioxide extractions, and macerations. Many plants don't respond well to the steam distillation used for making most essential oils, so these other methods allow for their scent to be extracted. Even with all of these methods, we still cannot capture the scent of many plants naturally.
About other ingredients:
I use purely plant based wax in solid perfumes, such as candelilla wax, sunflower wax, soy wax, or rice bran wax. I also use jojoba, which is actually a liquid wax.
All of my products are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. I aim to minimize use of allergens, such as nuts and wheat, but please check the ingredients and contact us if you have any questions.
About vintage items:
These are various items I've accumulated, and for most of them, I don't have much information.
